'Prince of Peace' |
This is the closest depiction of how Jesus really
looked like. That’s according to Colton Burpo,
the little boy who had a near-death experience when he was 4, which story was turned into a best-selling book 'Heaven is for Real' and is now made into a movie with the same title. Colton narrated that Jesus consoled him and gave
him a tour of heaven. And when presented
with all the images of Jesus, Colton said that the above painting was the ‘right’ one. That painting was created by Akiane Kramarik when she was 8
yrs old. But she already had visions of
Jesus as early as when she was 4.
I first heard the story of Akiane in 2012 when we,
as part of the LOJ Couples Ministry, did our Christmas caroling in QC. The hostess had this huge painting of the
‘Prince of Peace’ in her living room and she generously shared the story of
this little girl who grew up with an Atheist mother and a non-practicing
Catholic father, and yet had vivid dreams of Jesus, the heavens and heavenly beings
at an early age of 4. Click HERE to see
her other artworks. They’re mind-blowing!
Akiane and Colton |
I get goosebumps each time I hear the story of these of 2
kids, Colton and Akiane, who live in different parts of the globe but had the same visions and
stories of heaven and Jesus: that Jesus
has the most beautiful eyes, that heaven is so colorful and glittery, that
there are mansions in heaven, that there are no old people there and that is
indeed a magical place where beauty, joy and peace abound.
This is how Heaven looks like. That's my mansion! :) |
The part I love the most in Colton’s story is
when he met his sister in heaven who was miscarried! And for moms like me who experienced a miscarriage, it’s consoling to know that our kids do grow up in heaven. So, our baby Jonathan whom I miscarried at 3 mos. is now 5 in heaven! Yay!
Together, let’s all spend our Black Saturday (19 April 2014, 7:00pm in Glorietta, Makati) watching ‘Heaven is for Real’ which is a perfect feel-good prep to celebrate
the grand salvation on Easter Sunday! This would be one of the best Lenten family events this year!
Watch the movie's official trailer below.
And here's the real Colton being interviewed with his Dad.
Thanks & God bless,
