December 8, 2005 marked our 7 years as a married couple. It was such a great feeling ... knowing that we both have been through so much together, and yet our love remained as strong and powerful as ever.
I still vividly remember the day when I had asked my Sweetheart to come back into my life. It was in March 1998. He had just about given up on me and swore never to bother me again for the rest of my life. The saying is true that you'd never realize what you've got until you've lost it. It was such a painful loss ... a feeling that I never would want to experience in my life ever again. Thus, I swallowed my pride and asked him to come back. Thanks to Raymond Lauchengco's song, I didn't have to think of the words to say to him. I just wrote the lyrics of the song "I need you back" on the card:
"If I had known what you really meant to me,
maybe then you'd still be a part of me.
I was wrong not to let you know
this feeling that's hard for me to show.
Since you've gone I've always been alone,
feeling down and sorry for myself.
I look at your picture and there I find,
I won't make it through another rain without your sunshine.
I need you back. I need you here beside me.
Please come back. You're the only one who has ever loved me.
I need you back. Let's start all over again.
Share the love you had for me then.
Since I've said what I came here to say,
guess I'd better be going on my way.
But before I go, I just wanna let you know
you're the only one who can make me happy again.
I need you back. I need you here to guide me.
Please come back. You're the only one who has ever loved me.
I need you back. Let's start all over again.
Share the love you had for me then... share the love you had for me then."
I Need You Back - (Music Code)
The song reflected exactly what was inside my heart at that time, and luckily my Sweetheart have not heard of that song before so he thought the words were originally mine. Of course, whose heart would not have melted to hear such plea of longing and love? My Sweetheart, being the smart guy that he was (and is), accepted my offer and welcomed me back into his life.
From then on, we were inseparable. 9 months later, we both decided to spend our life together forever, and the momentous event was graced by our parents, close relatives and select close friends. 2 years thereafter, we had our union ratified in a "perfect" church wedding, this time with a much bigger crowd as witnesses. 5 years later, we were blessed with 3 beautiful and healthy kids.
Indeed, eating up my pride back in 98 was the BEST decision I have ever made in my entire life!
Happy 7th anniversary, my Sweetheart! Here's looking forward to a million more happy years with you on this life and beyond.
From your ever loving and sweet wife :)
